Dr. Swift students travelled to Cold Lake on Friday March 26th to participate in the regional Science Olympics competition.   Each team consisted of 5 players and competed against other grade 7 & 8 teams from Cold Lake and Bonnyville (there were 12 teams in total).  The main goals of the event are for the students to learn a bit about science and team work, but most importantly organizers want the students to have fun.   Our teams (one grade 6 team, two grade 7 teams and a team made up of grade 8 students)  did very well  winning a gold and a silver in the three events.

Dr. Swift Middle School held its first ever Coffee House.  An audience of over 300 parents ...

An audience of over 300 parents, family and friends were treated to an evening of coffee/tea, goodies and entertainment from our fine arts program.  Our Band, Music, Drama and Visual Arts programs joined together to provide an enjoyable program highlighting music from the fifties through 2010.

The Coffee House took place at 7:00 p.m. on Feb 25th in our school gymnasium.  There was no charge for the concert, but the Dr. Swift students leadership group did manage collect over $550 through a silver collection.  With the donations the  leadership group has reached their goal of raising enough money to provide a lunch program to a class of 30 students for a year in Kenya through the Plate by Plate program.
