Grade 8 YAP class recently had the opportunity to try operating various pieces of heavy equipment via the Portage College Mobile Simulator Lab. Each student spent the equivalent of one full day in the operating exposure program with Portage College instructor, Russell Connor. The session introduced them to the program & its prerequisites, along with potential employment opportunities, working conditions, salary expectations & the importance of job safety. Thanks to Portage College & our generous sponsors for making this experience possible!

Welcome to Dr. Swift Middle School!
Dr. Swift is a Middle School, grades 6-8, centrally located in the Town of Lac La Biche. Dr. Swift Middle School has an enrollment of approximately 300 students, 18 professional staff and 11 support staff. Dr. Swift Middle School is dedicated to providing a challenging and relevant education, through innovation and cooperation between the home, school and community, to enable all students to become responsible global citizens. Dr. Swift offers several programs including the unique Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP) offered in both grade 7 & 8.
