Dr. Swift hosted their 5th annual basketball tournament at the Bold Center on Saturday, January 14th. Our athletes played very well, with the Boys winning GOLD metals and the girls placing 3rd overall.
A very special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Kanhai for their dedication and commitment and donating their valuable time to coach our boys and girls. Also, thank you to all our referees and scorekeepers who worked very hard at the tournament this year. It was greatly appreciated. We would like to extend another big thank you to the Lac La Biche Kinsmen for their generous donation enabling this tournament to take place!
The grade 8 students will be hatching rainbow trout eggs in Mrs. Shulko's science class and raising the fish to be released in Alexander Hamilton Pond in early June. The eggs will be arriving thanks to Alicia Morin with Fish and Wildlife on Monday, Jan. 9th. This is a Government of Alberta Sustainable Resource Development program in conjunction with the Bow Habitat Station that demonstrates how delicate of a process it is to hatch and raise fish, which promotes the conservation of our waterways.

Dr. Swift is a Middle School, grades 6-8, centrally located in the Town of Lac La Biche. Dr. Swift Middle School has an enrollment of approximately 300 students, 18 professional staff and 11 support staff. Dr. Swift Middle School is dedicated to providing a challenging and relevant education, through innovation and cooperation between the home, school and community, to enable all students to become responsible global citizens. Dr. Swift offers several programs including the unique Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP) offered in both grade 7 & 8.
